ABRA-CA-DABRA!

The girls enjoy a fun game with Owen called Abra-ca-dabra. Quite simple you see, they say the magic words "Abra-ca-dabra", and they turn Daddy into something. Owen immediately turns into the strangest things. Keep in mind, the girls come up with all the ideas on their own. Here are some of the classics: The kissing machine where he'll immediately start smothering you with kisses, the grizzly bear, the tiger,(they will attack you) a pretzel, and the classic mean lady where he starts yelling at you in a mean old lady voice and gives you spankings. (Not Owen's favorite, but the girls really get a kick out of it.) Audrey is still trying to figure the game out. She often turns Owen into still things--a chair, eye glasses, a basket and a piece of paper.

Funny Things

Children get amused by the smallest things. The other day, I gave Drew a pear--whole. I cut off the skin and the stem just how he likes it. Maggie and Audrey were sitting at the table with Drew coloring while he ate his pear. When I came to clean Drew up, I noticed there was no pear core. I looked everywhere for it, soon to realize he ate the whole thing, core, seeds and all! I said, "Drewey, you ate the core and the seeds! Now you're going to grow a pear in your belly!" Maggie and Audrey actually believed me, and thought that was the funniest thing they had ever heard. They were rolling with laughter on the floor!

Smith playhouse

Last Fiday it was a semi nice day, so I took the kids to the Smith playhouse park. This is a very fun park with unique play equipment. The best part is the wooden slide that you slide down on potato sacks. We had such a good time--unfortunately, they close at 4:00, and needless to say, Maggie was not happy to leave--see picture. Good thing we went, because we had unexpected snow on Monday. BOOOO!

Boards are over!

I thought this photo of Owen would be a great reminder of a "sigh of relief!" Last Saturday night Owen came home and did a little BBQ after 2 long, very stressful days in the clinic taking his Western clinical dental boards. Last month, he had the written exams and now all he has left are a few little odds and ends to do, and then it will be time for graduation!

Josh Groban

Last month, I cashed in my Christmas present, and Owen and I went and saw Josh Groban in concert. He was absolutely AMAZING! I'm officially a "GROBANITE" now. I've enjoyed his music for years, especially the Italian and Spanish songs--I swear their love songs, even if I really can't understand them. I love his new album Awake--check out some great videos --just click on one--my favorite is "You are loved!" I think it has a great spiritual message!

Corn lover!

Drew loves his corn on the cob. He eats 2 small ears a day, and he can polish off every last kernel.

Dr. Dad to the rescue

What's the advantage of having your Dad as your dentist? He volunteers to take out all your loose teeth. This is Maggie's second loose tooth that Dad has removed. Good job Owen!

Baby Burritos!

The kids love to be mummy wrapped! I think it reminds them of their wee years!

Happy Easter!

This morning we woke to "Mom, Dad, the Easter Bunny Came!" The kids were very excited about all the goodies in their Easter baskets. They even got Elefun--a game where an elephant shoots butterflies out of his nose, and you have to try and catch them with your butterfly nets.

Bunco friends

Here is one of the tables from bunco!

Bunco Prizes

Here are soe of the great prizes from bunco--love those purses!

I Love New York Bunco!

Bunco has become a favorite here in Philadelphia. 16 of us get together once a month and play and chat, and eat. 2 weeks ago I hosted bunco at my home. My theme was I love New York! We ate New York style food from pizza, to pretzels. We even had the famous peanut butter frozen hot chocolate from serendipity. Even little Miles Wilkins was dressed in style--see above picture. When I was in New York a couple of weeks ago, I was able to do some serious bargaining with the street vendors. My prizes were Kate Spade, Gucci, and Prada purses, and New York t-shirts for everyone! We had a great time!

NYC!

One of the greatest things about living in Philadelphia, is that we're 90 minutes away from NYC! We've enjoyed seeing all the hot spots of New York. Last week, Owen and I spent a beautiful Saturday in the big apple--without kids! This is the two of us in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Owen didn't want his picture taken because he doesn't want people to think he's a tourist--he wants them to think he's a New Yorker!

Our Philly Home!

8875 Ridge Ave #23 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is soon to be no more. This is our second home we've lived in since we've been in Philly. Our first home on Parker Ave was a great 3 years. After we had Drew we soon realized that we needed a bigger place. Everyone thought we were crazy to move for our last year, but it was a great decision! We love the extra space and it's been fun living close to new friends. So our last year of dental school has flown by! We are about to venture out to a new, not so far place. Owen has accepted a position in Allentown, Pennsylvania for a general practice residency. Allentown is less than an hour away from here, so we should have a smooth transition! Move expected---June/July
