My little Rock Canyon Road Runners

So Maggie started 2nd grade and Audrey started Kindergarten. Yes, I have 2 kids in elementary school! Hard to believe. The craziest thing is that they are going to my old school. It's almost strange--the school looks exactly the same. The 3rd day we were running a little behind and I found myself standing in the hall with Maggie listening to the bugle and then doing the Pledge of Allegience. That is exactly the way it was done when we were late when I went there. Maggie loves her teacher Mrs. Barlow and says she is very nice. Audrey loves Mrs. Bigler and she is only there a half a day, but that is good since she was ecstatic the other day when she came home to tell me that she didn't have to go to school on Labor Day. Lets just say that she's a little less enthusiastic about school than Maggie. I've even seen friends from high school bringing their kids to school. It's all so strange wondering where the time has gone.

Lagoon

When Owen was visiting last weekend, we decided to go to Lagoon. I haven't been to Lagoon in YEARS! Literally since Jr. High. We had a nice time, despite the heat, and how crowded it was. Love the Wild Mouse though! The very begining is so scary--you feel like you are going to fly right off the tracks. Wanted to ride wicked, but Maggie started to vomit, and we had to leave.

A little change of plans

well, life has thrown us a curve ball once again. Back in June 15 days before we were supposed to move to California, we got a phone call from the pediatric director at UNLV stating that he wanted Owen to have a guarenteed spot in the pediatric program next summer. We immediatly changed our plans--we were going to rush off to Vegas, so we wouldn't have to move again next summer--(that would make 4 summers in a row.) Well, Owen started working for a great dental company in Harbor City, California and we were living with Owen's parents until the license for NV came through. In the mean time, I went to Utah to stay with my mom for 3 weeks. Last week it was time for Owen to come and pick me up to go back to Long Beach, and I just didn't feel right about it. The thought of moving back in with his parents made me very depressed. Not that I don't like them, they just have a small house, and there is no room for a party of 5! We thought about renting a home there, but it was impossible to find a month to month and the rent alone in So. California was between $3,000-$4,000--and that's for a tiny 3 bedroom house with no amenities! My mom has a big home and I'm very familiar with Provo. So...I decided to stay in Utah until we're ready to go to Vegas. I enrolled my kids in Rock Canyon Elementary--the same school I went to--so strange. They LOVE it, and are already making friends. Maggie loves little Hannah who is in second grade too, and it just so happens that she lives right across the street from us, and is in our ward.--- I swear, only in Utah!
Owen has a 3 day weekend every other week, so we'll be investing in a lot of frequent flyer miles, and it's almost like a second honeymoon for us! Although our plans of having another babe don't look good--you know, timing issue. I do miss Owen terribly and sometimes wonder if we made the right decision. But ultimately, we don't know if the pedo program is going to have a salary, so this gives us a chance to pay a few things off and save a little to get us through the next two years. My dilemma, is that when I'm at church all the ward members who I know all too well, find out that I've moved in with my 3 kids and they give me this sad look like I'm getting divorced. I feel like I need to get up in sacrament meeting and tell everyone that I'm not getting a divorce, nor am I seperated, nor is my husband in the milatary or is he inactive. --we're just going through a little job transition right now all for the good of Owen's dream of being a pedodontist. We're hoping for January, but you never know. I'm ok too, so don't feel sorry for me--ok, you can if you want.

I'm in Utah!

I've been in Utah for 3 weeks now, and it's been nice to see friends and family, and be back in familiar surroundings. Utah is such a nice place! I love the fact that my mom's house is nestled right up against the mountains and Provo is such a beautiful city.
My good friend Stacy who lived in Philly when we were there, (now lives in Florida)came to visit her family, so it was fun to meet up with her a few times. We went to Thanksgiving Pointe --they were having $2 Tuesday's in August and so you could go to any venue for that price. So us, and every other mormon mom decided to take advantage of the great deal. We hit the dinasaur museam, the gardens and the farm. The day we went to the farm, we met up with Becky and Ash who we also lived in Philly with. Stacy and I were able to get in dinner and a movie without the kids too! That had to have been the best part! I haven't seen Stacy in over 2 years, so it was fun to catch up and man have her kids grown!

Fun at Sundance

On Friday, my Mom took us up to Sundance to ride the ski lift. It was so beautiful and a little frightening. We went so high! I was holding Drew so tight all the way up and tried to take a pic of everyone on the lift, but I couldn't free up my hands. The kids loved saying hello to everyone that would pass us. This was a great little outing.

Fun with Philly Friends

Last Thursday, we had a little playgroup at the Gateway Fountains in Salt Lake with good ol Philly Friends--Cathie and Sharisse. It was great to see you guys, and sorry we missed your kids in the pics Sharisse.

Making Jam!

Last Saturday, we picked plums off my moms tree, and we made 16 jars of plum raspberry jam. The kids relaly got into it, and helped pick, grind, cook, and pour! Anyone for Jam?

Visiting Doo-Dah

Today we went to visit my cousin Deborah (Doo-Dah) and her little girls Anna and Jacee. Maggie of course took charge, and was presenting Anna the princess with a crown. The kids had a great time playing with their second cousins.
