Trip To Washington D.C.

Last week we decided that it was our last chance to go on a little family vacation before Owen starts work. In the 4 years we have lived in Philly, we have never been to Washington D.C. so, we took Maggie out of school and spent a couple of days there. The kids were troopers. We were prepared for 2 days of, "I'm tired of walking!" and "This is boring!" But...to our surprise, there wasn't much of that. Drew was a little hard, but the girls did great, and I mean great! I must say that Owen and I did go a little bonkers listening to Maggie in the car. She is a motor mouth and talks a lot of nonsense! I think the best part was that this was a very affordable vacation. Everything is free! --(except for the gas, hotel and food of course)

Happy Birthday/Happy Father's Day Owen!

About every 6 years, Owen's birthday falls on Father's day. We have had the discussion many a time about how he feels robbed. I guess it's like having your birthday on Christmas. --Ok, I wouldn't go that far, but his 2 days of special treatment, turn into 1. We still managed to pull off a decent day for him I hope. He was showered in gifts this morning by the girls. They at least let him sleep in--Maggie has a tendency to get really excited on holidays and is usually waking everyone up at 6 a.m. He was able to have a semi nap after church.-- Drew was a little noisy. He cooked himself a BBQ--his favorite thing to do, and had a yummy chocolate cake for dessert. We love Owen and will miss him tomorrow. It is his first day of "work" He has to leave early for the commute to Allentown and will be gone all day. I was just getting used to having him home. sniff sniff.

KIndergarten Move-Up Day

It's hard to believe our little Maggie just completed Kindergarten! When we moved to Philly, she was only 2 years old. I remember thinking that as much as I want the time to go by fast so we can be done with school, I don't want it to, because my kids will be so much older. Maggie had Kindergarten Move up day on Thursday. They had a really cute program with lots of singing. Afterwards, they had refreshments, and this is a pciture of the cake-- It has a picture of her class on it. Maggie recieved an award for excellence in music--she plays the violin. Shawmont Elementary and Ms. Kalish have given Maggie a positive experience this past year! Good job Maggie!

Happy Birthday Audrey!

Today was Audrey's 4th birthday! I think Maggie was more excited than she was. Maggie woke her up at 6a.m. to open presents. Here is Audrey with all of her Barbie/princess loot at 8a.m. I think we need to have a chat with Maggie about these early morning holidays. Here are some fun little facts about Audrey -
-1. Audrey was 6 weeks old when we moved to Philadelphia.
2. Audrey shares her birthday with her Oma--(dutch grandma)
3. Audrey looked just like the Gerber baby when she was a baby.
4. Audrey loves string cheese, juice, and celery.
5. Audrey loves cartoons--her favorites are Wonder Pets and Tom and Jerry
6. Audrey loves anything that has to do with pink and princess
7. Audrey loves to read--she often sneaks books into bed after bedtime
8. Audrey loves the songs "Take me out to the ballgame" and "Somewhere over the Rainbow"
9. Audrey dances very well on her toes.
10. Audrey cut her hair in October and has had short hair ever since--and gets lots of compliments!
11. Audrey loves the summer time. She practically lives in her swimming suit and flip flops. I have to put them away in the winter, because she'll wear them all year long! I think she's meant to be a Californian.
12. Audrey has a purple crocheted blanket. When she sleeps, she puts her fingers and toes through the holes.
13. Audrey has the sweetest little voice.

Party Time at Moonbounce Adventures

Audrey had a great time with her friends Maelie, Emma and her best friend Maggie at Moonbounce!

Baby Blues!

Drewey has the bluest eyes! They're beautiful!

Day trip to South Philly

OK, so 4 years here in Philly and we've never been to the South side. So, since Owen has had a little time on his hands, we thought we'd go for it. I wasn't too impressed with The Italian Market, but I did enjoy the leisurely stroll through some of the historical sites. Here is a picture of the tiny clapboard houses that were built by a shipwright and are the last of their kind. Let's just say that Audrey hates walking. She get's tired very quickly and usually spends more time complaining than enjoying.

Summer's Here!

So I guess it's not technically "summer" yet, but we're sure loving the weather! We bought the kids a little pool, and splurged with the one with a slide. They have been in it practically everyday, so I guess we got our 20 bucks out of it. Here is Drew, and the girls with their neighbor friend Sasha.
