Car Found!

We recieved a call from the ALlentown Police that our car had been found and was towed to a tow yard. After we went to sign a release from the police department, we went to take a look at the car. As we waited behind the locked fence, I saw the car and it brought me to tears. They had completely stripped the outside --the fin, both headlights, front fender, and then when we went to look at the inside the trunk was all pulled out, and the console in between the seats, and the gear shift was just a stick. All of our belongings were still in there, and the car even started. ALl they wanted were a few parts, but it was enough to destroy the look of the car. My car looks like she doesn't have any eyes, like they sucked the life out of her! On top of it, I have to pay $300.00 to get it out of the tow yard, and I also recieved a parking ticket--which I refuse to pay. Today at church everyone was so generous offering us their car to drive, and Audrey's primary teacher has 3 cars, and was trying to unload one. SO now we have a Subaru, and hope that we can figure out a way to get our car out to sell it for parts.
That was the car I bought right after I got home from my mission. It was the car that Owen and I had when we were married, and I taught him how to drive a stick shift. It took many road trips to SoCal. It was the car we hauled on the back of a U-haul all the way from Utah to Philly. It was the car that I drove for 3 years with 2 little car seats in the back. It was the car Owen drove to Dental School for 4 years. We have a lot of memories in that car, and it was very hurtful to see it destroyed.

Will your insurance help pay for anything to be replaced? or are you just going to buy a new one when you are done with the GPR? How sad!

I was reading Maggie and Audrey's comments beneath their pictures and I was going to comment on how they don't like to clean. Maybe I told you this...but we have odd and even days. Hunter is odd and Austin is even. Whatever the date is, that's who is in charge of making the bed. The other person does the floor. Same with any other jobs, prayers, picking movies, gets in the shower first, etc. It has helped tremendously with fighting and who does what. I don't give them a ton to do, but they are good at what they are doing. I am not sure about rewards for your kids. Mine like video games, so that makes it easy. Good luck!

Hi guys!! Sorry to hear about your car. We got your Christmas card. It was great to hear from you. We couldn't get things together this year to send out cards...we'll make it up next year! We'd love to catch up with you. The phone number we have has been disconnected, so let us know how we can reach you, OK?

Oh my gosh! I can't believe someone would take your car out of the driveway. That must have been a pretty desperate person.
We have a good system at our house. If the kids see something at Target or the mall they want, they have to earn points to buy it. So little chores at the house, i.e. making the bed, sweeping, homework, earn 25 points (just like $.25). Then when they have the right number of points, we go buy what they have been working for, and earned. If they don't want to do chores, they just don't get they points and it takes longer to earn their prize. They usually want to becaue it is something they really want. Consequently, if they are doing something inappropriate, they get points taken away. This has also stopped the constant "Mommy I want this" at the store, because they know we don't just buy it right then and there, they have to earn their points. Sorry for the lengthy comment.;)

Oh Holly that's horrible. I hope that you can figure out how to get it out. I know it doesn't really compare but I had both my bikes stolen as a kid-I never got those back. Good luck with everything.

Holly, I'm so sorry about your car. I don't know if you remember, but Zack and I had two separate cars stolen in Roxborough. It is the creepiest feeling and when you get the car back...(we started ours with a screw driver for three months)...it's creepy just knowing a stranger was in there. You feel so violated...and we weren't even that attached to our cars. I hope it works out for you somehow. Have you decided where you're heading when you finish up there? Good luck with everything.

That's so sad! Maybe it would have been better to have not found it at all??? That's nice that so many people were ready to step in and help out like that.

Oh so said...that's terrible. I hope your insurance will help you out. Rotten luck...especially when it's a car you have a history with.

That sucks! I'm sorry! You guys have the worst luck w/ cars! I can't believe that happened in Allentown and not Philly. Go figure. I'm glad someone gave you a car, now nice.

Unbelievable! That is so sad - if you see Steve's Corolla driving around PA you have my permission to tell the new owner that we actually wanted to give it to you guys. Owen really loved the handles on Steve's Corolla!

Wow that's so sad. I am sure it'll be like saying goodbye to an old friend. How devastating for you all.

Holly!

Great to hear from you! Sorry about the car. Pete's car got broken into in Philly as well. Hasn't been the same car since then :-(

That's exciting that you are looking to move west. Drop us a line if you have any questions about the Central Coast.
