Vegan schmegan

So here is my little update on the 21 day cleanse. It is over early. I was eating fruits and veggies only and feeling hungry and very low energy. The thing that killed it for me was the vegan meat. I had to incooporate a little protein and I'm not one for Tofu--texture issues. So we had some vegan ground beef and sausage --soy protein. The smell, the taste and the texture--I'm sorry, but so nasty! Being vegan just isn't for us. However, we did feel great on our cleanse and a little is better than none at all.

Yeah, I couldn't do tofu either...the texture just grosses me out! Well at least you tried. I think the best thing is to just try and work out more and just be more conscious of what you are eating, rather than give up meat and sugar completely! I'm sure you will have more energy if you do that. Good luck!

Just go get a colonoscopy if you just want a cleansing. They say some pretty crazy stuff comes out. A health book that I got says to do it many times a month. I say 2 a year or something.

Melinda cracks me up!!! I couldn't do the Vegan diet either - in fact, I have never tried a diet... not once - wait, I lied, I did do the Slim Fast plan after Charlie was born, but I cheated so it doesn't really count. Food is too fabulous! I think moderation is the key, but I have yet to accomplish that either. (obviously). Good Luck girl!

I have to say that reading your blog the past little while has inspired me. We are going to do our own little 21 day cleanse...but the rules are made up just by me, not by some health expert. Mostly we are going to cut out all the normal sugar treats, eat more fruits and veggies, and stick to things like popcorn, popsicles, and sherbet for snacking. We'll see how it goes, and who knows if it will be very "cleansing," but I'm sick of my kids wondering what the next sugar treat is going to be, etc.

Holly, remember that stew/soup diet that you and your state college comp...can't remember her name...did? I thought you guys were so crazy back then. Your post made me think of that...and all the silly things I've tried. Next tax return...we're doing lypo baby! :) hee hee.
