Today I experienced this....
Earthquake Shakes Los Angeles
An earthquake shook Los Angeles late this morning, measuring 5.4 in magnitude. There have been no reported injuries and media reports said the quake was felt as far south as San Diego and as far east as Las Vegas, Nevada. We were all casually on the patio doing our own thing. Owen was at work, and Maggie was inside. This was mine and the kids first earthquake and my in-laws were acting like it was no big deal. It was a pretty good shake, and now I know how motion sickness I really get, because I felt pretty dizzy after the fact. Drew on the other hand said, "Oma, do it again, again!" I think he thought it was some kind of ride at Knotts since we were just there last week.

Yeah, that really is the true welcome to CA. Personally I was hoping to move back out before experiencing one. It had been years since I'd actually felt one and I am not a big fan of them!
Glad you are all ok :)
My parents are in San Diego and they felt it as well... pretty freaky. Is California going to fall off into the ocean?!!! Kidding. Be safe.
Ummm...Callie is not that far off. I have a geology book that my dad gave me for Christmas one year...it showed how all the continents changed over time, and then projected what they think could happen in like 5000 years...and ya...CA was broken off as an island...don't worry...i'm sure we'll be in the millenium by then ;)
p.s. you have received the utmost respect of my QC friends with your last comment on my blog BTW
I would have peed on myself and ran to the bathroom to hide! I am such a chicken! Sounds like Drew was all about it! I am glad things are going so good but we miss having you close here in Allentown!
Glad to see that you have made it to the other side of the country & safely through your first earth quake. I love your blog about things that you will miss & not miss. I especially agree with your last two-Practicing & Making Money! We just got paid yesterday! Yeah! I heard that you are going to Vegas. We are looking pretty seriously at going there ourselves. We'll have to keep in touch. It would be cool to end up by the Sanders again. :)
