Several people have asked me what we are going to name this babe. I have NO CLUE! Obviously it makes it harder when you don't know what you are having and have to come up with boys and girls names. Every time I bring it up with Owen, it turns into a big joke. He can't get serious ever I swear! He usually makes fun of the names I've been thinking of to the point where I'm not liking the name anymore. Then he comes up with Orlando, Lafonda, and yes, Renesme. (He got hooked on Breaking Dawn when I made him listen to it all the way to vegas and back last week.)
When we had Drew, we had decided that it was just Drew several months before we had him. Then at the hospital, just as I am about to fill out the birth certificate, he throws a stink about how we should name him Andrew and call him Drew. Needless to say, I wasn't happy and decided that we had already made the decision and now is not the time to change our minds. I carried him, and endured the pregnancy from Hell, so he left with the name Drew.
When we had Audrey(didn't know what we were having, and really thought she was a boy, and were going to name him Miles.) Since she was born on Owen's mom's birthday, he felt some deep obligation to name her after his Mom (sophia) I really wanted Audrey and so he suggested Sophia be her middle name, which would leave her with the initals A.S.S. --just couldn't do that to her. Needless to say, she is Audrey because I gave in and let him choose her middle name(as long as it wasn't sophia) if I could name her that. (Curtis--yes, that's right, she has a boys middle name) It is actually his grandma's name. TO this day, he says, "why did you let me name her middle name?"
So, I have decided that he's usually not in his right mind and that I will be the one in the hospital room, and the one with the pen and birth certificate. I don't think Owen cares either way, As for the kids, well, they also have their own opinions and so they can name their kids whatever they want and I'll name mine what I want to . Sorry, is that harsh?

giggle, giggle...I kinda like Lafonda! :) Too funny. I think you guys have great names, we thought about Maggie once, short for Magnolia, a place where David served his mission...so I said, then I get one named Carlisle (shortened to Carly) or um....none other PA cities fit, huh? Like, Hanover Ward? Umm VETO. Scranton Sanders? No,no, I've got it... York "Corn Flake" Sanders...Hee hee...
Not making fun, really, I'm positive you'll pick a fantastic name! :)
I love this post! Very sensible ending. And hilarious all before that.
And the pictures on your blog of your kids are just fantastic. They look wonderful!
I am not avoiding you..I am avoiding my cell phone. We are almost out of minutes and our month renews on Friday! Let's talk this weekend! I would love to catch up too! You are crazy...I would never avoid you. A chance to talk to an adult is to tempting to pass up! :-) Let's talk this weekend! Plus I have FREE minutes so there is nothing holding us back. Can't wait to find out if you are having a boy or girl! I loved the A.S.S initials...how funny would that have been...obviously not if it was your kid but funny that you caught it, with my luck I would have missed it and had an A.S.S on my hands.
We have the same problem. Gordon has veto power, but I choose the name. However we ran out of boy names with Jacob, so the kids picked that one. Good luck- I know how hard it is.
We let Hunter and Austin choose the twins names. Peyton came from "Petyon Manning" and Ryder came from "Ghost Rider". Hunter wanted Gunner, but I said no. So he said he would name his own child that, as long as his wife agreed. Names are so hard. Usually whatever name they end up with they end up fitting it. Good luck! What are the names that you've been thinking of?
I tend to like names that are different but weird. Jack was actually named Evan Jack and was supposed to go by Evan, the name I picked out. Jaeson wanted Jack so I told him we could use it for his middle name and he could call him Jack as long as he told everyone his name was Evan. Well, you see what happened. Not one person calls him Evan, not even me. I'm kindof bitter still! Avery wanted to name her first child Lilly if it's a girl and if it's a boy,....Michael Jackson. I told her that probably wasn't a great idea! Let me know if you need any girl names, I had a couple in my mind and Jaeson didn't like them, but I still think they are cute.
You do all the hard work so you get to name the kid! That is what I told Ash anyway! (this still applies to adopting Marissa...I was the one who did all the paperwork!). We had the same initials (A.S.S) problem with Xander, which is why his name is just Xander, not Alexander. Plus, I didn't want people automatically calling him Alex since I don't like that name! I prefer to name them what you are going to call them!
I'm TOTALLY with you on this. I figure since the mom endures the pregnancy she gets to choose the name. However, I wanted Anna's name to be Anna Soleil Stanger, but again the ASS problem. What a bummer. ;o) Rob insisted on his mother's name of Cathryn, so I caved. I still don't like it, so I call her Anna Kate which drives Rob crazy....too bad.
heee, I am soo glad I'm not the only one with a husband that reacted like that when I brought up names. Eric even went so far as to suggest the name of his cadaver (he had anatomy that semester and they had named their corpse) it drove me crazy, but somehow it worked out!
I love how you put things! After hearing Owen's choices I am glad you are the one with the pen in hand! :) It is hard to think of names! You've done great three times - I am not worried! Can't wait to know what you are having!
Too funny! I'm glad we aren't the only one with naming problems. Personally I like Lafonda :) haha! You can do what we do and watch a ton of movies before looking for names-both characters and in the credits that we like. Good Luck! Your other kids are have great names so I'm sure you will come up with something perfect!
I am super impressed that you haven't found out what you're having. I couldn't do that. I can't keep a secret like that from myself. Maybe if I already had a girl, I'd feel different, I dunno.
Names ARE hard, aren't they? Our first name, Ian, was really easy to agree on. It was decided early on. Cameron was a different story. I decided to go to the hospital with other names in my head, just in case he didn't look like a Cameron. He did and he does.
I'm sure whether it's a boy or a girl, you'll have a great name picked for him/her. Good luck with everything, especially right now. I think the last 6 weeks are the hardest!
