Missing her Daddy!
Audrey is such a little daddy's girl. Owen left for L.A. for a job interview today and will be gone for 1 week. Tonight we were cleaning up the living room and we were listening to Tim Mcgraw, "My Little Girl." (Just a random song on my playlist.) She has been in tears ever since. She said, "Mom, stop playing all these sad songs. It makes me think of Daddy, and I really miss him!" SHe was sobbing for quite a while. And he has only been gone for 3 hours! He calls Audrey "Sweetness".

Bed Time Ritual
Every night before bed, we have the same bed time ritual. We sing Twinkle Twinkle, ABC'S, and I am a Child of God. Drew is getting pretty good at the words--he's even better now--this was a couple of months ago.
Pics from our actual snow last week.
Yes, we actually got snow last week, and it was the kind of snow you could actually pack and play in. Schools were cancelled, and Owen came home early because all of his patients had cancelled. We decided to take the kids sledding for the first time. Why have we never been before? We always thought the kids were too little--and from the video below of Drew, it confirmed that decision. The girls had a blast though!
Cold Drew
Now I know why we haven't done too much sledding in the past years. I think it's just too much for a little 2 year old. He wasn't crazy about sledding, nor was he crazy about his cold hands and bum.

To eat wheat, or not to eat wheat -that is the question?
Drew...oh the joy's of having multiple food allergies. November 2006--diagnosed with food allergies to wheat, soy, milk, eggs, nuts, barley, and sesame--let's just say it's been a stressful year! But good news! Drew had his wheat challenge last week, and passed! This opens up a whole new variety of foods for Drew. Things you may take for granted that Drew now enjoys--cheerios, ritz crackers, triscuits, wheat thins and his favorite honey on wheat bread. His Dr. is hopeful that he will outgrow milk, eggs and soy within 2-3 years. We are up for a barley and sesame challenge within the next couple of weeks.

Are kids these days over stimulated?
Owen is out of town for 5 days for a job interview, and I'm really trying to keep myself sane while he's gone. Last night Maggie's school had a night at the movies in the gym. We all brought our blankets, folding chairs, and they served popcorn, nachos and hotdogs. Many a people crowded in the gym to watch "Ratatouille" on the big screen. ABout half way through the movie it all started--kids were up and down, and up and down, back and forth, running through the halls, and lots of talking. I was a little annoyed because I myself have never seen the movie, and everyone kept walking in front of me. Now I realize that most kids have probably already seen this movie, if not own it. Were they bored, or are kids watching too much T.V. these days, that watching a movie isn't a treat anymore? I started thinking about my elementary days, and if my school put something like this on, you can guarantee that it would be a hit, and we all would have stayed in the gym to enjoy the movie rather that getting up and down for more food, and running through the halls. That's another thing, the kids are more into the food than the movie! Now my kids aren't perfect by any means, and we do own a television, and several movies, and sometimes I wonder if they are bored while they are watching t.v. Once they start watching t.v. on their heads, or are constantly in the kitchen wanting to eat while they're vegging, the t.v. is off. I think kids these days are just so different than we were growing up. Man, I'm starting to sound like my mom!

Is it time for a Big Boy Bed???
Drew turned 2 last month, and I really wanted to buy him a new bed. But since we're moving in June, we settled for his crib that converts into a twin bed by taking the outer rail off. First mistake...read on...Last night when we put him to bed, he fell right to sleep. When Owen and I went to bed, and I checked on him, he was on the floor. I had layed pillows next to his bed so it wouldn't be too hard of a fall. I decided that I should probably check on him later in case he falls out again. I mentally woke myself up at 4 a.m., and when I went in there, Drew wasn't there and neither were his blankets. I went into the girls room, and no Drew. After checking every room upstairs, I went to the main level, and no Drew. This is when I started to panic. The lights were on in the basement, and I wondered if they got shut off the night before. When I went down there, there was no Drew. I immediately thought someone had broke in and kidnapped him and was about to run up and get Owen, when I looked in the long vertical closet where I found Drew in the corner asleep. After i woke him up, and marched him up to bed, I had a little chat with him about staying in bed. He just gave me a big smile. Little stink! I'm not really sure what happened. DId he wake up and didn't know that we were asleep in our room, and went downstairs looking for us? Was he sleepwalking? Did he just have too much freedom now and went downstairs to play? I think it was the first one, and so now I'm going to have to put some alarms on his door. He knows how to open the front door, so that could be really scary! So I was a little freaked out there for a moment, and maybe we're just not ready for him to have his freedom!
