To eat wheat, or not to eat wheat -that is the question?
Drew...oh the joy's of having multiple food allergies. November 2006--diagnosed with food allergies to wheat, soy, milk, eggs, nuts, barley, and sesame--let's just say it's been a stressful year! But good news! Drew had his wheat challenge last week, and passed! This opens up a whole new variety of foods for Drew. Things you may take for granted that Drew now enjoys--cheerios, ritz crackers, triscuits, wheat thins and his favorite honey on wheat bread. His Dr. is hopeful that he will outgrow milk, eggs and soy within 2-3 years. We are up for a barley and sesame challenge within the next couple of weeks.

That's great! I'm way excited for you and for Drew!
I never realized that all of those foods had wheat in them. Greg's mom is allergic to sesame and you wouldn't believe how much food has sesame seeds and sesame oil. I guess you do take it all for granted when you don't have a food allergy. Won't that be nice when he has outgrown all his allergies? A girl in Greg's office ate something she was allergic to and she passed out and they had to use the difibultor's on her. She almost died. How scary!
Tell Owen good luck on his next interviews!
Yeah!!! Now he can eat more than meats and fruits. Good luck with the sesame and barley challenges!
That's great that you can expand his diet more. Hopefully all the rest will resolve too so he can enjoy eating all the yummy gourmet food you and Owen like to make!!!
Holy cow! What a pain! My little sister has siliac (sp?) disease and just avoiding the wheat alone is a pain. Congrats and good luck with the others!
Hooray for Drew... But I have to tell you - one of the funniest things I've ever heard was when Jon was talking to Owen on the phone a couple of weeks ago - I asked Jon to ask how the food thing was going - Owen told Jon that Drew was having bacon for dinner. LOL I could just picture sweet little Drew with a plate full of bacon in front of him. I think I may have been a little jealous. ha..ha... Good luck with the next round. h
